Day 17 - Atenas Downtown

This morning we decided to head over to Atenas which meant changing buses in San Jose and, we thought, a taxi ride. We arrived in San Jose, took a taxi to the other Bus Parada only to discover that the bus to Atenas left from the Coca Cola Bus Parada!!! We returned to the right bus Parada by taxi, found our bus and headed to Atenas. Once there we were hungary and stopped at one of the little indoor open air eating booth run by this cute young lady and her husband. They knew as much Spanish as we knew English but we managed to order and proceed to eat. Before heading home, the couple was very nice and lent us their key to the business establishment's restroom!! We were mucho agradecido!!! Typical view of the streets with the church in the background.
The wood ceiling in this church was beautiful!! Later we sadly learned that all the flowers in the church were part of a funeral, pictures to follow.
The park which traditionally faces the church was full of students and this is a sampling. They were shy at first but eventually started giggling and posing for our picture.

Erin!
Their churches are very romantic and spiritual with all the uplifting architecture and soft tones and colors. Their designing and use of the many beautiful woods available to them is not only very creative in colors and value but many times symbolic in shape and tone.
