This is one of may fresh fruit and vegetable markets that we walk by in San Jose. Not only do they have fruits and vegetables at the open air markets they also have meats and clothing and just about anything else you can think of. There are a couple of huge markets that go on, and on. We are going back to San Jose again on Friday and hope to get more pictures of the markets and the people.Sadly, there are people living on the street in San Jose! Today when Julie took us to the Mall (yes, just like in the US), I noticed a bunch of laundry, or something, hanging near a bridge on the freeway and asked what that was about. Believe it or not, people live under the bridge in corrigated metal shelters with power, t.v. and even trees. In Costa Rica if you stay on a piece of land for a certain length of time, (not a very long time) the property becomes yours. These people are called squarters and the ones under the bridge are called the Bridge People.
