Day 20 - The Road to Peace

The road from our house to University for Peace is 7 Kilometers and there are some very interesting homes, gardens, parks and Tico eating establishments along the way. Alos, there are plants and trees that are just georgeous!! The picture to the right is like a bannion tree except these actually grow around another tree and strangle the host tree.

To the right are more examples of the outrages Bougenvellia that grow everywhere!!

The street scene is the spot where Sharon & I, while walking realized that I had left our new camera in the back seat of Luciana's car. Luciana's a kind Tica that picked us up as we were walking the 7 K back home and warned us of Bandits on the road!! It was also starting to rain and when we arrived home the rain proceeded to become a downpour!!!
Thank you Luciana. Oh, you are probably wondering what happened to the camera. Well...while Sharon went down to the business district to see if Luciana was picking up groceries (she owns a restaurant), I ran back up the hill to the intersection to where she would have to pass to go home and the moment I arrived she, and a carload of kids, pulled up and made hand signals and with a big smile and let me know she had my camera! Do we need to say how relieved and grateful we felt????

Also in this picture you will note a building with a blue sign on top! This is a new bar and restaurant in town which we visited on our way home yesterday. The beer was cold, Sharon's Guaro Cacique, liquor made from sugar cane and served with limes and soda, was tasty; and the gentlemen, and I use the term loosely, were very friendly as they had been drinking the afternoon away. After one drink and lots of almost conversation, we headed up the hill!!
